Many people are familiar with the increasingly popular Luton carnival, where over 140,000 revelers fill the streets and party like there is no tomorrow. But many people are unaware of the Luton centre for carnival arts, a special new centre which embraces the carnival spirit and offers the community a whole host of facilities that were previously not available.
The Luton Centre for carnival arts, was created in 2008. It’s main aim was to provide a place for all ages and races to come and celebrate their creative spirit. It has a huge purpose built performance space which will host theatrical and dance shows. There are also numerous workshops spaces where community members can learn a new skill or develop their artistic talent.
There are also other practical facilities, such as a cafe, which serves tasty treats all year round. There is also a children’s creche, so you can enjoy yourself and rest in the knowledge that your children are being looked after by trained professionals.
The Carnival centre is supported and run by the Luton carnival arts development trust which has been established since 1998. They are currently seeking extra funding for some exiting new developments on the horizon.
The centre is located in the Hat factory on Bute street in central Luton. It is accessible by train or car and there is parking facilities available on-site. If you want to check out what is currently showing then take a look at the website for more details.
